What we believe...

The Holy Bible: We believe the Bible (66 books of the Old and New Testaments), in its original form, is inerrent and the "God-breathed" (θεόπνευστος, theopneustos) sole source of written divine revelation, free from errors and contradictions. We believe the Bible is the only, authoritative, and trustworthy rule for faith and life.
2 Timothy 3:16:
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"

One God: We believe there is one true and eternal Holy God, who is the sovereign Sustainer of all things whose fullness and Glory is beyond all comprehension. We believe God is a Triune mystery, existing eternally and simultaneously as three distinct persons of the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe all three persons in the Godhead equally and completely share one divine nature being coequal in nature, glory, unity, and who are the only proper object of all worship and faith. His perfect knowledge extends to all things in all times simultaneously, as He is outside of time.

God the Father: We believe the Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and allows for the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all-powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

God the Son: We believe in the eternal existence of Jesus (Yeshua in Hewbrew) as the Son of God. We believe that Jesus is the promised Messiah (Mashiach Nagid) who is wholly God (second person of the Trinity) and wholly man (Incarnate Son of God) who came to earth to be born of the flesh by the conception of the Holy Spirit in the womb of the Virgin Mary. He was promised in the Old Testament and Fulfilled in the New Testament. We believe that Jesus lived a sinless and perfect life in the flesh.

He gave Himself as a substitute sacrifice to be crucified on the cross as payment in full for the penalty of the sins of all humanity. We believe that Jesus bodily arose from the dead on the third day and ascended to heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father where he ministers as our High Priest and Advocate and who is deserving of all honor, glory, and reverence unto which every knee should bow in worshipping Him as very God.

God the Holy Spirit: We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Divine third Person of the Godhead sent to minister salvation, to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and to regenerate believers to repentance for the forgiveness of sins. We believe the Holy Spirit literally indwells believers as a new creation in Christ that protects, guides, instructs, comforts, and gives empowering gifts to believers for Godly living and spiritual service.

Who we are...

WE ARE HIS BODY, WE ARE HIS CHURCH! We are excited to share our ministry with you and hope you will join us in this “NEW” type of ministry.

You will note that “NEW” is in quotes. This is because what we are doing is not really new. It is as it once was. Our goal is to turn the Church back to what it once was and to steer it away from the danger of apostasy (twisting or getting away from the original teachings of Christ) that is becoming so prevalent in today’s churches.

We desire for you to see the truth about the church, that YOU are the church, not some building that you feel obligated to go to once a week.

WHAT WE ARE NOT: While music is an important part of ministry, church for us is NOT a dimly lit rock concert with a little bit of message tacked on to the end of the day. Church for us is NOT just a weekly obligation that you must check off (a harmful thought process, actually) and it is NOT a specific feel-good prosperity gospel misusing cherry-picked passages from the Bible. Church is NOT boring or stuffy!!!

Church is NOT a business meant to secure as many "converts" as we can so as to draw in numbers and thus monetary donations. Of course we survive on donations. But the true salvation of our flock and discipleship of members is what is important, not converts.

We are NOT givers of the watered down word to meet the times. We believe that God says what He means, and means what He says.

We hope that you will join us in bringing the church back to the people. Jesus commanded that we be disciples, not simply converts. He wants a personal relationship with us that goes beyond occasional feel-good messages and cherry-picked scripture used to serve a specific message of the day.

The only way this can be truly accomplished is through heartfelt study of the word, seeing the WHOLE bible as the inerrant word of God, as given to man (over 40 of them, actually) over the course of 2000 years, in the form of 66 books, that, from beginning to end, tell not only the history of God and the world but of the church; of YOU.

There is a saying: The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed!

At Body of Christ Church, our hearts are set on following the Word, continuing Christ’s ministry as He directed, and on community involvement.

We wish to take the church out of the building, put it back in the hearts and houses of our members, and get involved in bringing faith and a sense of community to the public. We hope that you will join us in this most important of labors!

How we live...

It is our purpose and mission to represent the body of Christ as described in both the Old and New testaments, to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ as led by the Holy Spirit, to bring the unsaved to Jesus Christ, to build up the body in principles of communion and Godly living, and to strive toward unity in the Body of Christ.

We strive to follow the command of Jesus in the Great Commission given to his eleven remaining disciples in Galilee after the resurrection:

"All authority in heaven and on the earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in th ename of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amd teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20)

We create a welcoming environment for fellowship, biblical education and discipleship. We do NOT look for or create converts. We promote discipleship in Christ's Church as directed by Him.

We look for ways to involve and be involved in our community to help those in need as modeled by Christ and the early church. We believe in taking care of one another, loving one another, and encouraging one another in Godly living.
Christ had a special place in his heart for children.

"Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me." (Matthew 18:3-5)

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." (Luke 18:15-17)

We believe that children are the key to restoring our faltering society, securing the future of our community and ensuring the destiny of our nation. Their impressionability, vulnerability and willingness to turn to good with the correct inspiration and guidance is what Christ means and it is what makes them so important to us as a community and His Church.

We are currently developing programs that will foster community, compassion, ethics and morals in our youth and that will help the community at the same time.

We believe that Christians are to continually, cheerfully and liberally give in worship of God to make disciples of all nations and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus for the redemption of the lost, by giving of our time, talents, and material blessings as taught in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.

The Gospel...

The one and only God, who is Holy, made us in His image in order that we should know and have a relationship with Him.

In His great and perfect love, God the Son (the second person of the mysterious Trinity) took on the flesh of humanity, living a perfect and sinless life, to die on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of fallen man. He took the punishment, earned and deserved by man, so that, through belief, following and loving Him, we would all have salvation.

We do NOT worship a dead savior! We worship a Risen LORD! Jesus rose from the dead after three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Through this resurrection, He showed that God accepted His sacrifice on our behalf and that God's wrath against us had been exhausted.

God now calls on everyone to repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ alone for forgiveness of sins. If we repent of our sins and trust in Christ, we are given new life as a new creation: an eternal life in the presence of God forever.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Jesus of Nazareth, called the Christ (Annointed One, or Messiah) was predicted by the prophets of the Old Testament. His arrival was predicted TO THE VERY DAY. His life and death (a criminal's or prisoner's death) was the fulfillment of prophecy and scripture.

Jesus' last words in human form are recorded in modern interpretation as "It is finished." The Greek term used is Τετέλεσται or tetelestai. The correct translation of this word would be "paid in full." Jesus, through his role as the substitutionary lamb, the lamb of God, paid the debt for our sins IN FULL.

Through His resurrection, he conquered death and provided a means for us to have everlasting life in the presence of God in the New Kingdom.

Christ is the Head of the Church, and we are the Body. The Gospel gives us the truth about Jesus' role in our salvation, and gives us instruction and commandments through scripture in how to live, interact and evangelize, spreading the good news of the Gospel to the world!

What we believe...

We believe the Holy Spirit seals the believer unto the day of final redemption and that His presence, dwelling within the believer, is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ in worship, evangelism, and service.

Mankind: We believe God created mankind distinct in kind from all other life on earth being created in His image and likeness. We believe that Adam and Eve, the first human beings, chose to listen to the serpent and rebelled against God resulting in the original sin of mankind.

Consequently, man is caused to be inherently sinful, separated and faces just punishment from God. Because of this original sin, mankind cannot on its own restore its place with God. We believe that God in His great love and mercy for mankind sent his Son to redeem mankind and save him from the eternal judgment of God.

Substitutionary Atonement: We believe that the Father manifested his love and mercy to mankind to send His only begotten Son who, in His sinless body, bore the sins of mankind on the cross, and died in our place. This alone was sufficient for our justification and reconciliation to the Father, and not by the works or merits of mankind.

Salvation: We believe that salvation is the undeserved gift of God by His grace alone, given through faith alone in Jesus, as a finished work of Christ whom the Father imputes in believers the righteousness of Christ to raise them from spiritual death to eternal spiritual life.

The Church: We believe that Jesus is the Founder and living Head of the Church. We believe the Church is the spiritual body of Christ a universal divine spiritual organism of those purchased and redeemed in the blood covenant to have a common shared life as a family being joined together by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to enjoy the presence of Jesus among us forever. It is not found in a building, but in the fellowship, bond and continued discipleship of its members, Christ's body.

The Future: We believe that at the appointed time Jesus will bodily return to earth in great glory and majesty to fulfill the purposes of God, as prophesied in the Bible, to establish the Kingdom of God on earth, to raise all people to judgment, bringing eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and to establish a new heaven and new earth

Values...

The Gospel: This is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes, and it is the only way for sinful people to be reconciled to a Holy God.

John 14:6: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Preaching style: At Body of Christ Church we have a variety of teaching styles that we employ, with the focus being on scriptural knowledge and understanding as well as application to life!

In general, it involves a passage or passages of scripture, employing as much of the original meaning as possible, that is discussed as a main point with application to life today.

God's Word is sufficient without a need for alteration or modernization. God and His perfect agenda and will rule this ministry, not man.

Theology: We are all theologians and Biblical students/scholars whether we want to believe it or not! The Holy Spirit will guide your understanding of the message and we encourage group participation and involvement during the service. We likewise encourage families with children to allow their children to participate as exposure to the Word must begin early!

Conversion:
Matthew 7:17-20: "Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them."

Only God can save by speaking through the Spirit to those who seek Him through Jesus Christ. It requires repentance from sin and acceptance of Jesus. This likewise tells us how we must evangelize to others. We cannot simply apply moralistic band-aids to people and their problems. We must focus on the Gospel in every gathering.

Evangelism: This is our means of spreading the Gospel to non-believers. It is simply telling the story to others and offering to help them in their walk and growth with God.

Church Membership: People are not just faces in a crowd here! People are more comfortable and willing to participate and learn when they know one another and are comfortable with one another. That is what we strive for and what we encourage here.

Discipleship: We know that a living Christian is a growing Christian, no matter how experienced in the faith. We strive to build one another up in the faith and grow together!

How we live...

We strive to exalt Jesus Christ in all that we do. Worship is not just a one-day-a-week duty!

We want to give Jesus all the praise and glory that He deserves as the slain and resurrected Lamb of God on behalf of us sinners.

We strive to remain scripture-led and Gospel centered!

The life, death and resurrection of Yeshua (Jesus) must be of first importance in teaching and understanding.

Scripture is inspired by God and is His perfect, infallible and unified Word written by men over thousands of years by the direction of the Holy Spirit.

We desire to be relational in our dealings with one another! We are known as Christ's Body. No part of our body is any less important than any other. All are required to function according to God's will for us.

Likewise, we are each a critical and important part of Christ's Body. Each person is important to the function of the Body according to God's will for the Church.

We strive to me mission-minded in that we strive to do God's important work, evangelize and follow the Great Commission while taking care of others in need in our community!

Covenant Ordinances...

Covenant Ordinances: We believe Jesus gave the Church two ordinances as signs and seals of our covenant relationship with God.
The first ordinance of Baptism is administered only once using water and the triune name of God as a ceremonial washing of the outward sign of an inward reality of our life-surrender and obedience to Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection.

We believe the second ordinance of our covenant with the Lord is the sharing of the Lord’s Supper (communion) to be observed by the Church until the end of the world as a perpetual memorial of His sacrifice, the sealing of all benefits of true believers, their spiritual nourishment, edification, and our shared union with Him joined together as his Body.
